Counter Bore System Locking Fasteners
Bolts can be loosened by heat and vibration, therefore requiring regular maintenance and retorquing. This unfortunately often leads to overtorquing and, eventually, to failure.
Stage 8, located in San Rafael, CA, has solved this problem by designing a locking counterbore bolt.
Next to a counterbored hole, a small slot is milled. The bolt is then torqued to specs. A Locking Retainer slides over the bolt head and a snap ring fits into a groove in the bolt head, holding the Locking Retainer in place.
This design acts as if a small wrench is locked on the bolt, keeping it from turning. No special tools required.
